One of the recent Durham treasures I discovered was Tyrone Mills in Clarington, which is located north on Liberty Street in downtown Bowmanville. Tyrone Mills has a water-powered mill, along with saw, cider and flour mills. I managed to find this place after I bought some fruity wines just down the road at Archibald’s Winery (I great find, too!).
Stepping into Tyrone Mills, is like stepping into the past. It’s probably one of the most unique places I’ve seen locally; it was also one of the stops highlighted in Doors Open Ontario, which is an event that showcases towns, villages and hamlets in the municipality.
Pictured below, you’ll see the shop’s interesting wood carvings, Canadian-grown organic wheat, and their homemade soups, butter. Also, their ice-cream was pretty good. I don’t think it’s homemade, but still worth a taste if you have a sweet tooth like me.

Happy June everyone! The start of this summer month means weddings, weddings, and weddings! To kick off the season, I’d like to share some of the photos I snapped during a friend’s wedding earlier this month. It was a very unconventional wedding – from the green Victorian-style dress, the red Converse chucks, to the Beauty & The Beast wedding cake. I have only chosen to share a couple of photos, taken with a Nikon AF-S DX 35 mm f1.8G and a Nikon AF-S DX 50 mm f1.8G. But please check back. Let’s just say I’ve been on a slew of adventures, and I’ll soon be sharing more!

While everyone has probably made it up to the cottage by now, I’m spending the long weekend working. Yes, that’s right. Working. But it’s okay with me. The weather is beautiful, and I do have a few things on my agenda – besides work – this weekend. On Sunday, my friend Matt will be celebrating his 27th birthday in style with a party in Whitby; and on Monday, I hope to catch up with Amandla – one of my workaholic best friends. Let’s just say, I’m thrilled we’ve finally found some time to hang out. So I guess all-in-all, the next few days do have their positives.
Granted when I am busy at work, looks like my little man is spending his afternoons relaxing and soaking up the sun at the backdoor. Oh, how puuurfect.

I adore Archie comics and Mac Cosmetics. So, imagine my surprise when the makeup company released Archie-inspired lip glosses, mascaras, and nail polishes around Valentine’s Day. My heart nearly stopped. Did I mention I’m also a sucker for limited edition lines? I usually want to buy up everything – classic compulsive spender, I suppose. But you know what, I am really pleased with these particular purchases. I love, love the “Pep Pep Pep” nude colours in the Betty products; and one thing I will say about Mac, despite their high prices, they’re actually really great quality. I only use Mac foundation, and their nail polishes go on like a dream. “Archie’s Girls” has been my favourite line from Mac, and I really hope they rerelease some of these products again.
Advertisers must love me.

There’s a lot I can say about my Mom, but I will keep this short and sweet. If I am not at home, I am calling her while driving home from work. Now that she knows how to text, we generally message throughout the day … she has come to really enjoy sending me happy faces – which I find pretty funny. And if that isn’t enough, I’d say we both can enjoy a good episode of The Big Bang Theory together. My Mom is my best friend, and if the Backstreet Boys didn’t use the word “son” in their song “(Cause Mom You Always Were) The Perfect Fan,” then I’d say they wrote that song about us. Anyways, the lyrics still ring true.
“There is never a day that passes by I don’t think of you. You were always there for me – pushing me and guiding me, always to succeed. You showed me when I was young just how to grow. You showed me everything that I should know. You showed me just how to walk without your hands, ’cause mom you always were the perfect fan.”
